What do you do with your free time?

Sorry for the break.  I have been getting my new site together.  As you can see I am still working on it, but in the meantime I thought I would share a little bit of what has been going on around here…

Recently, I have come to terms with the fact that free time is a sweet faint memory of my past. I came to this realization shortly after I surrendered the idea of 9 to 5 jobs, dinner at 6, bedtime before 10pm, sleeping in past 7am, and many other cookie cutter dreams.

The past ten days of my life, I’ve been living the dream. Trying to make the most of momma-hood: picnics in the backyard, taking the boys to ride the Choo Choo at the park, feeding the ducks, going with dad to ride the trolley and drink old fashion root-beer floats, playing in the sprinkler with Jad’s bud Drennon, and finally tonight, going with two of his friends to Chuck-e-Cheese and Chick-fil-A play area.

Park Choo Choo

Sorry couldn’t leave this one out… Jonah’s first time on the swings.

The ginormous train outside the Trolley Museum.

And finally at Chick-fil-a with Anna, Jad, and Drennon

But today, in the middle of this fun chaos, my boys just happen to take a nap at the same time, and Jon was home working on a video.  I had a one hour window to go and do whatever I wanted.  You may laugh, but this is what I’ve been looking forward to for over a month now.  A  haircut.  A frizzy weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

So what do you get to do in your free time?

Wow, so much has gone on this weekend and I have so many pictures it’s hard to choose what I want to show!  Friday and Saturday we had a great time with the boys up at Branson.  Here are some of the highlights…

Jad definitely inherited mine and Jon’s genes for adrenaline rushes on amusement park rides.  I can’t believe how many rides this boy rode!  (I’ll put of the video of him on the giant swings later)

Every time it bounced Jad said *ri-bit, ri-bit*

The Butterfly was not as spacious as the Fog.  I wish Jon would have rode this one!

Since Jonah only likes to be held, and Jadon walks too slow.

Mmm…Ice Cream

This is Jon’s attempt to fix the shoulder straps on Jonah’s carrier with a POWER CABLE.  He thought they needed to be closer for support, and he proceeded to tell me it looked normal.  I told him to take a picture to show me “normal”  Needless to say,  I made him untie it.

What do you do for Mini-Vacations?

The Potty Training Diaries: Bootcamp

From Tuesday thru now I have dedicated myself to getting Jadon potty trained.  ASAP.  How’s it going?  I’m glad you asked… (if you skip Day 3 you will be disappointed)

Day One - awesome.   Started strong and Jad did not have a wet diaper all day.  I even brought out the Pull Ups with Disney’s Cars.  He was having so much fun pulling them up and down.  And then, at nap time, he poo poo’d in them.  I guess I saw that one coming, but on the bright side; he did not potty in his pull up.

Day Two we regressed.  Jad will not use any form of a bigger potty, so he refused to go to the potty at his grandparents house and school.   I guess this day was just rough all around because that night we had to be at church from 5 to 9.  The good news is that Jadon began to tell me when he needed to go potty.

Day Three was eventful - to say the least.  We were back on schedule to go potty, but with a few accidents.  First thing in the morning he yelled “no” and threw a toy across the bathroom.  In response, I sat his bare bottom to the corner.  After that, He decided going potty was the better choice.  He also became suddenly interested in the stool side of the potty, but at this particular time I had not yet cleaned it out.  I’ll leave you to fill in the rest.  Another particular time he sat down on the potty and pee pee’d straight up in the air and on me.  Are you laughing yet?

Day Four looked similar to Day Two.

Day Five a MOUNTAIN was moved in my son’s life.  With a little help from his dad, Jadon conquered the big boy potty.  And in public.  They were at Shorty Smalls and somehow Jon got him to go on the potty there, twice.

So tonight Jon and I had a great, much needed, date night.  We went to Joe’s Pizza Pasta, which is one of those hole-in-the-wall awesome authentic restaurants.

We were in line to pay and this man was in front of us.  He is a picture of a true older Arkansan.  Sorry for the bad phone quality.  He has the dress shirt with the nylon vest, jeans (with boots), the Arkansas ball cap and look at his ear closely…

Complete with a blue tooth head set!  Who said older people are set in their ways?

Confessions of a tired mom

I wish I could tell you that I just woke up, but you and I both know that would be a lie!  Sorry for the break.  We just finished our Bible Conference and it was amazing.  John Hagee, Mike Mille, Larry Jones and more…it was just jam packed full of God!  And I’m exhausted and refreshed all at the same time.

Jon is finally home, but sick with strep and on his birthday.  It is so not fun around this house.  Lol, I am running circles trying to keep the boys clear of germs, and it is proving very difficult since they have not seen their dad much in the past 3 weeks and it is soaking wet outside.

So here are the things I have let slide this week (Sorry if you are in awe by the first ones!):

1.  The house. (dishes, laundry, cleaning…) - It feels hopeless!

2.  Bath time (for the boys) - almost 3 days. I’m an every-other-day bather anyway, because Jadon gets ear infections so easily.

3.  Food - Jadon had a melt down yesterday and I rewarded him with a giant piece of chocolate cake at one of the luncheons.  (My justification is that he ate his salad, chicken, mash potatoes, and even a bite of sweet potato without spitting it out)

4.  Money - We’re broke after this conference.  It’s so easy to give money to awesome causes.

5.  Tears - I cried, at least once, this week. A lot.

I am ready to get back on track, and get my house looking and smelling normal.

Oh, and this is Jonah Wednesday night, wide awake in his bed.  (Yes, that is drool.)  I put him to bed at 10pm and didn’t hear a sound come from his room.  I went to check on him at 11, before I went to bed, and found him turning on and off his Sea-horse.
