The Potty Training Diaries: Bootcamp

From Tuesday thru now I have dedicated myself to getting Jadon potty trained.  ASAP.  How’s it going?  I’m glad you asked… (if you skip Day 3 you will be disappointed)

Day One - awesome.   Started strong and Jad did not have a wet diaper all day.  I even brought out the Pull Ups with Disney’s Cars.  He was having so much fun pulling them up and down.  And then, at nap time, he poo poo’d in them.  I guess I saw that one coming, but on the bright side; he did not potty in his pull up.

Day Two we regressed.  Jad will not use any form of a bigger potty, so he refused to go to the potty at his grandparents house and school.   I guess this day was just rough all around because that night we had to be at church from 5 to 9.  The good news is that Jadon began to tell me when he needed to go potty.

Day Three was eventful - to say the least.  We were back on schedule to go potty, but with a few accidents.  First thing in the morning he yelled “no” and threw a toy across the bathroom.  In response, I sat his bare bottom to the corner.  After that, He decided going potty was the better choice.  He also became suddenly interested in the stool side of the potty, but at this particular time I had not yet cleaned it out.  I’ll leave you to fill in the rest.  Another particular time he sat down on the potty and pee pee’d straight up in the air and on me.  Are you laughing yet?

Day Four looked similar to Day Two.

Day Five a MOUNTAIN was moved in my son’s life.  With a little help from his dad, Jadon conquered the big boy potty.  And in public.  They were at Shorty Smalls and somehow Jon got him to go on the potty there, twice.

Jadon's Very Happy "Un-Birthday"

Jadon’s birthday is in February and for the last year Jon and I have really wanted to get him a backyard climber. The problem is that in February it’s still cold and stores do not carry them. It’s a good thing Jadon is two and does not realize his parents did not give him anything (besides a lot of cake) on his birthday.

Well, May has arrived and so has his “playground.”

And here is the finished product!  (The slides didn’t make it in the picture)IMG_0140Complete with Jonah sitting on Jadon’s head and Hurley running thru the picture.

I hope y’all have a good weekend.

So, I was informed Sunday that Jadon is showing interest in one of the girls in his 2 year old nursery class. As cute as you all think this is, sweet Zoey makes girlfriend #3. Yes, one for every “venue.”

#1 is the cute Kasey from school. She is loud, goofy, and from what I can tell, loves everything. He thanks Jesus for her every night in our prayer time. I mean every night.

#2 is the spitfire, Annasten, from Small Group and Play-dates. She is the younger of the three (at 18 months), but can definitely hold her own among all the other boys. She has put Jadon in his place many times, but they are too cute when they give goodbye hugs! (Jadon is a head taller)

3018_1111154744597_1398735138_30611309_2298459_nthis is Jadon and Annasten :)
#3 is quiet Zoey, and the first blonde Jadon has ever shown interest in. I do not know much about her yet, but her parents are sweet. She is the silent type, so far.

So with girlfriend number three, I wonder more and more what kind of girls my son will be interested in, one day when it matters. Before he was born I was already telling Jon which girls Jadon will never date. Isn’t that funny?

Confessions of a tired mom

I wish I could tell you that I just woke up, but you and I both know that would be a lie!  Sorry for the break.  We just finished our Bible Conference and it was amazing.  John Hagee, Mike Mille, Larry Jones and more…it was just jam packed full of God!  And I’m exhausted and refreshed all at the same time.

Jon is finally home, but sick with strep and on his birthday.  It is so not fun around this house.  Lol, I am running circles trying to keep the boys clear of germs, and it is proving very difficult since they have not seen their dad much in the past 3 weeks and it is soaking wet outside.

So here are the things I have let slide this week (Sorry if you are in awe by the first ones!):

1.  The house. (dishes, laundry, cleaning…) - It feels hopeless!

2.  Bath time (for the boys) - almost 3 days. I’m an every-other-day bather anyway, because Jadon gets ear infections so easily.

3.  Food - Jadon had a melt down yesterday and I rewarded him with a giant piece of chocolate cake at one of the luncheons.  (My justification is that he ate his salad, chicken, mash potatoes, and even a bite of sweet potato without spitting it out)

4.  Money - We’re broke after this conference.  It’s so easy to give money to awesome causes.

5.  Tears - I cried, at least once, this week. A lot.

I am ready to get back on track, and get my house looking and smelling normal.

Oh, and this is Jonah Wednesday night, wide awake in his bed.  (Yes, that is drool.)  I put him to bed at 10pm and didn’t hear a sound come from his room.  I went to check on him at 11, before I went to bed, and found him turning on and off his Sea-horse.

The Potty Training Diaries

Dear Safety 1st,

I would like to thank you for creating the Comfy Cushy 3-in-1 Potty.  I would also like to know what in the world you were thinking when you created this contraption.  Obviously, you were not thinking of my two year old son.

Even though he does not find much interest in the “pottying” side, He adores the stool, because it makes him about a foot taller.  He has also discovered that he can carry his potty anywhere in the house to get to anything.

Here are the many ways in which he has found great use of his potty:

…and here is today’s discovery:

It makes a great spot for a bowl of Oatmeal!

In conclusion, I believe you should rethink this invention.

Sincerely,

Stephanie
