Confessions of a tired mom

I wish I could tell you that I just woke up, but you and I both know that would be a lie!  Sorry for the break.  We just finished our Bible Conference and it was amazing.  John Hagee, Mike Mille, Larry Jones and more…it was just jam packed full of God!  And I’m exhausted and refreshed all at the same time.

Jon is finally home, but sick with strep and on his birthday.  It is so not fun around this house.  Lol, I am running circles trying to keep the boys clear of germs, and it is proving very difficult since they have not seen their dad much in the past 3 weeks and it is soaking wet outside.

So here are the things I have let slide this week (Sorry if you are in awe by the first ones!):

1.  The house. (dishes, laundry, cleaning…) - It feels hopeless!

2.  Bath time (for the boys) - almost 3 days. I’m an every-other-day bather anyway, because Jadon gets ear infections so easily.

3.  Food - Jadon had a melt down yesterday and I rewarded him with a giant piece of chocolate cake at one of the luncheons.  (My justification is that he ate his salad, chicken, mash potatoes, and even a bite of sweet potato without spitting it out)

4.  Money - We’re broke after this conference.  It’s so easy to give money to awesome causes.

5.  Tears - I cried, at least once, this week. A lot.

I am ready to get back on track, and get my house looking and smelling normal.

Oh, and this is Jonah Wednesday night, wide awake in his bed.  (Yes, that is drool.)  I put him to bed at 10pm and didn’t hear a sound come from his room.  I went to check on him at 11, before I went to bed, and found him turning on and off his Sea-horse.

If You're in The Fort…

I have been basically single-mommin’ for two weeks now because Jon is working his tail off for a conference our church is hosting.  I miss him!  As much as I am looking forward to the conference, I am looking forward to this weekend, when I will get to see him more than in passing.  Tonight I tried to bribe Jadon to leave church, but he wasn’t buying anything.  He just wanted to sit with me and wait on his dad to get out of a meeting.

I really wonder how men can go, go, go, not sleep, and still survive.  I know they eventually crash, but not as quickly as I do.  (I guess I did it the first four months of Jonah’s life and I was exhausted!)

In other news, My voice feel’s like it is ripped to shreds from my lack of sleep this week.  Did you ever realize that not getting enough sleep can do so many bad things to your body?  (I did learn something in college)

The point of this post is to say if you are in or around The Fort this week you should come to the conference.  It is going to be “b - awesome” (for all you Bolt fans :))  And all the general sessions are free!

Opening night is going to be John Hagee, and it is going to be packed out.  Two weeks ago we had two older women show up at rehearsal saying they were there early to get a good seat to see John Hagee.  I don’t think they realized they were that early!

Do you go to any other conferences through the year?

Tonight night was one of the coolest nights at 180 Remix.  It is an awesome thing to recognize and celebrate all the students/leaders that give their all for God!  It was like the Academy/Grammy Awards, and the students got to vote for their peers.

You may be the one to say that you don’t agree with such an event, but I believe it’s a great way to say “well done,” and it was also fun to dress up!  The students that were nominated for these awards don’t work their tails off day in and day out looking forward to this night…no, they are doing the Great Commission for their Lord and Savior trying to save the lives of their peers and friends.  They are all beautiful people!

Anyway…here is the family photo of the night…Jon and I presented the “Gift Award.”  Can you see my fist?  Jadon spit out his pizza so he could smile for the camera…yes I’m holding chewed up pizza. (and he ate it, again, after we were finished)

A Silent Moment

As a worship leader, communion is a time that I rarely get to move off and have my own moment with God.  Lets just say it’s very difficult.

Anyway, last week at our youth service, Josh spoke on Those That Followed and had communion at the end of service.

Usually, I leave the service early to get the boys home and in bed, but I was so excited to stay the extra 30min, to humbly hide away in a corner, on my knees, in gratitude to my Lord and Savior.

Take those moments and tuck them in your pocket.

Do you ever feel the same way?
